Honestly, I've seen Spanish menswear only through the blog of Pelayo Diaz (katelovesme.net), and never quite done my Spanish fashion research. Well, not until recently.
Few days ago, I've been searching through an online base of young fashion designers, and one in particular just made me excited (in a fashion way, you pervs!). It was a collection called 'Romantycs' by a very young (only 2 years older than me) Spanish fashion designer Guillem Rodriguez. He is based in Barcelona, and studied at BAU Design School. He graduated this year, and his graduate collection 'Romantycs' pulled all the stops, and got him a Modafad fashion award.
The collection presents his own vision & the result of his research of his personal Imaginery. 'Romantycs' is both masculine & feminine, in the very modern androgynous way - but doesn't show a hint of trendiness. That's probably due to his excellent way of discovering new ways to integrate feminine elements like fabrics & appliques with very boxy cuts & shapes that really balance the collection.
I'm crossing my fingers for Guillem, and hoping he'll get a chance to produce more fabulous & stylish collections like this one, and that he will grow both as a designer, and an artist.
