Futuristic. 90's. Little bit of Spice Girls. And a lot of Raf Simons.
That's how I'd describe the latest (2nd) collaborative collection of the Belgian designer, and the major sportswear brand adidas. Filled with 'NOTICE ME' shoes, the collection describes the typical Raf Simons aesthetic - minimalistic sportswear interpreted in a modernistic & a futuristic way, but still holds the charm & the vivaciousness of adidas. While the colours bring it to mass market level, the marvelous details just suppress the feeling of street, and bring it to the level of high fashion. I'd like to own pretty much every piece from the collection - not that I'd wear them all, just to look at them. The feeling I get when I look at the picture is that a shoe lover (nice to meet you again!) could study the shoe for hours, scrutinizing it to the smallest detail.
If I had to choose my favourites (and I always do), I'd pick the first 2 sneaks above - basic running shoe in fun colours, with the futuristic element of the plastic band on top.
And hey, I'm sure of one thing - you either love love LOVE them, or you hate them to death.
The collection will be available in February, at selected adidas Originals concept stores, and Raf Simons boutiques.
